• Provide student support during and outside class hours.
• Guide students on tools and platforms used for coursework in software engineering and business informatics.
• Assist with grading, moderation prep, and administrative follow-up under faculty supervision.
• Help organize student presentations, milestones, and assessment events.
• Set up online platforms, channels, and class resources.
• Attend classes on weekends or evenings for in-session technical support.
• Identify students needing additional support and refer to appropriate channels.

Job Description

Teaching Assistant - Master of Management

Location: Christchurch

Part-time | Fixed-term | Yoobee Colombo Street Campus

Please note: This is a fixed-term, part-time role working 13 hours per week: 3 hours on Friday, 5 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday.

About the role:

The Teaching Assistant will assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning support, and student engagement for the Master of Management Programme. The Teaching Assistant will support lecturers and students to foster a positive and effective academic environment, contribute to the administrative and practical aspects of teaching, and uphold academic standards aligned with Yoobee’s values and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Assist lecturers in classroom preparation, tutorial facilitation, and lab sessions.
• Provide student support during and outside of class hours (as scheduled).
• Guide students on the use of tools, platforms, and technologies related to coursework in software engineering and Business informatics.
• Assist with grading, moderation preparation, and administrative follow-up under faculty supervision.
• Help organize student presentations, project milestones, and other assessment-related events.
• Support in setting up online platforms, communication channels, and class resources.
• Attend classes on weekends or evenings as required to provide in-session technical and academic support.
• Help identify students who may require additional support and refer them to appropriate channels.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

• A Master’s degree in Management, Business Analytics, Business Informatics, Information Systems, or related discipline (essential)
• Prior teaching assistance, tutoring, mentoring, or relevant professional experience (preferred)
• Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle, Turnitin) and academic tools
• Experience supporting postgraduate students or research activities is advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage with a diverse postgraduate cohort
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of academic integrity and research ethics
• Commitment to continuous learning and academic excellence
• Respectful of cultural diversity and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
