Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking a Dam Site Engineer on a 2-year fixed-term contract for the Waihi operation. You will lead on-site engineering, coordinate field teams, and ensure QA/QC for tailings dam and water management works, with emphasis on safety, compliance and efficient delivery.

The role requires a Mining/Geotechnical/Geological/Surveying degree and at least 5 years in mining projects, plus a full driving licence; residential Waihi location offered with a 50-hour Mon-Fri week and strong company

Qualifications

• Mining Engineering or related degree required.
• At least 5 years experience in mining projects.
• Full and current driver licence; manual driving preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day on-site engineering and QA/QC support for tailings storage facility construction.
• Coordinate contractors, field crews, surveyors, laboratories and suppliers to ensure works meet technical and safety standards.
• Verify works align with drawings, specifications and inspection/test plans.
• Witness field testing, material verification and compaction testing as part of QA/QC.
• Maintain site diaries, quality records and progress updates for governance and handover.
