Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation in Waihi, New Zealand, is seeking an on-site engineer to lead QA/QC and site coordination for the Waihi North tailings dam project. The role focuses on field verification, documentation, and ensuring safety and quality across earthworks and infrastructure.

You will work with contractors, labs, and surveyors to maintain construction standards and governance. The successful candidate will hav e 5+ years in mining, a relevant engineering degree, and a current driver’s

Qualifications

• Full and current driver licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
• Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering or Surveying Degree.
• At least 5 years experience in mining, preferably within projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day site engineering and QA/QC support for tailings storage facility construction, embankment raises, seepage control works, decants, pipelines, drains and associated site infrastructure.
• Coordinate contractors, field crews, surveyors, laboratories and suppliers to ensure works are executed in the correct sequence and to the required technical, safety and quality standards.
• Verify that works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, construction methodologies, method statements, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate and witness field testing, material verification, compaction testing, density testing, survey set-out confirmation and other QA/QC activities relevant to tailings dam construction.
• Inspect earthworks, lining systems, drainage features, pipework and structural components to confirm compliance with design intent, technical specifications, construction tolerances and quality release requirements.
