Job summary

Solution Squad Limited in East Tamaki, North Island, seeks a System, Network & Security Administrator to maintain servers, networks, firewalls, and client devices. You will resolve complex issues, provide on-site and remote support, and help keep client environments secure and reliable.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in systems or networks, strong Windows/Linux, Cisco/Fortinet/Sophos, and Microsoft 365/Azure. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or Network Administrator or similar role.
• Strong understanding of Windows Server environments.
• Excellent networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs).
• Hands-on experience with firewall platforms (e.g., Sophos, Fortinet, Cisco).
• Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience.
• Experience with virtualization technologies.
• Strong diagnostics and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel to client sites when required.
• CCNA/CCNP certification.
• Network+ / Security+ certification.

Responsibilities

• System Administration: Manage Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and identity management.
• Configure and maintain virtualised environments (VMware/Hyper‑V) and perform patching, backup management.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Conditional Access, and Intune.
• Network Management: manage routers, switches, VLANs, and wireless APs; troubleshoot WAN/LAN; configure VPNs.
• Firewall & Security: configure firewalls; monitor and respond to security alerts and vulnerabilities; manage endpoint and email security.
• Device & Application Support: deploy and support desktops and mobile devices; manage software licensing; Tier 2/3 support.
• On-Site Work: hardware installations, migrations, and client relationship building.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated System, Network & Security Administrator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working across a broad range of technologies.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting server environments, networks, firewalls, and customer devices. You will resolve complex technical issues, deliver on-site and remote support, and ensure our clients’ systems remain secure, stable, and fully optimised.

Some travel to client sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration

• Manage and support Windows Server and/or Linux Server environments
• Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management
• Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Conditional Access, and Intune
• Perform system patching, updates, and backup management
• Install, configure, and maintain virtualised environments (VMware/Hyper‑V)
• Troubleshoot performance, capacity, and uptime issues
• Implement and monitor backup, recovery, and failover processes

Network Management

• Manage and maintain routers, switches, VLANs, and wireless access points
• Troubleshoot WAN/LAN issues and optimise network performance
• Configure VPNs, network segmentation, and routing

Firewall & Security

• Configure and administer firewalls (Sophos, Fortinet, Cisco, etc.)
• Apply, review, and manage firewall rules and protection policies
• Monitor and respond to security alerts, threats, and vulnerabilities
• Support endpoint protection and email security solutions

Device & Application Support

• Deploy, configure, and support desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices
• Manage application installations, updates, and licensing
• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support to users across multiple clients
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues

On-Site Work (When Required)

• Perform hardware installations and migrations
• Resolve complex issues that cannot be handled remotely
• Build strong professional relationships with clients
