Job summary

Downer & Company is seeking a Surfacing worker Grade2 to join our Auckland team on a full-time basis. You will support sealing and chip spreading activities in accordance with project plans, contributing to a high standard of work across New Zealand.

The role requires hands-on collaboration with the team, strong timekeeping, safety awareness, and a good level of physical fitness. A Full Class 1 licence is preferred to operate site equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction or civil infrastructure preferred.
• Hands-on team player with practical approach.
• Strong punctuality, reliability and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labouring tasks on site.
• Act as a spotter for the chip spreading truck.
• Adjust and manually spread chip seal as per project plans.
• Follow health and safety standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

Downer's Sealing department is highly respected and has a great track record for delivering a high standard of work across New Zealand and our Auckland crew is no exception! We’re after a Surfacing worker/Chip Runner to join our team to conduct site works and activities in accordance with project plans. Key responsibilities include:

• General laboring activities
• Acting as a spotter for our Chip spreading truck
• Adjusting the application and manually spreading chip seal
• Following health and safety standards and procedures

Important Skills

You will have exposure to construction with a genuine interest in the civil infrastructure industry. You will also have:

• The ability to work hands‑on as a team player
• Good timekeeping skills – punctuality and reliability is key!
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Confidence communicating and working around the public
• A high level of physical fitness
• A Full Class 1 License
