Downer is looking for a Surfacing Worker to join our Christchurch team and contribute to road maintenance and surfacing projects across the region. Qualifications

• Experience in civil construction, road maintenance or surfacing.
• Commitment to health and safety.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors.
• Full class 1 Drivers Licence (Class 2 with W,T,R beneficial)

Responsibilities

• Carry out surfacing and road maintenance activities as directed by the Foreperson or Supervisor.
• Assist with asphalt, chipseal and general pavement construction works.
• Complete pre-start inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment.
• Load, unload and handle materials safely and minimise wastage.
• Support the wider crew to meet productivity, quality and safety targets.
• Complete daily records, reports and other site documentation as required.
• Build positive relationships with road users, residents and stakeholders while on site.

We are looking for a Surfacing Worker to join our Christchurch team and play a hands‑on role in delivering road maintenance and surfacing projects across the region.

As a Surfacing Worker, you'll work alongside experienced operators and crew members carrying out a range of road surfacing and maintenance activities across Canterbury. You'll support the delivery of projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard, helping ensure roads and transport networks remain safe and reliable for our communities.

This is a physically active role where you'll work outdoors in a team environment and contribute to a variety of projects throughout the year.

We're looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in civil construction, road maintenance, surfacing or a similar industry
• Strong commitment to health and safety
• The ability to work well within a team environment
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
• Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• A full class 1 Drivers License (Class 2 with W,T,R will be beneficial)
