Job summary

Higgins Hawke's Bay is seeking an experienced Operator to join our Surfacing & Sealing Team in Hawke's Bay. This hands-on role combines plant operation with surfacing and sealing activities, delivering road projects and maintaining quality outcomes with safety at the forefront.

You will work with crews to support chip sealing, asphalt paving, and site operations, while upholding health and safety standards and contributing to a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience operating civil construction or surfacing plant/Equipment.
• Proven ability to work safely in outdoor environments.
• Willingness to support crew and operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate rollers, loaders, tractors, and other surfacing plant.
• Support chip sealing, asphalt paving, and road maintenance tasks.
• Assist with site set-up, traffic management and daily operations.
• Load, unload and transport materials on site.
• Perform pre-start checks and maintain equipment.
• Monitor quality and ensure compliance with project specs.
• Collaborate with Forepersons and project teams to deliver programmes.
• Follow health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Assist with general labouring duties across surfacing operations.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and safe working environment.
