Job summary

Higgins Hawke's Bay is seeking an experienced Operator to join the Surfacing & Sealing Team in Hawke's Bay. The role combines hands-on plant operation with surfacing tasks across road maintenance and infrastructure projects.

You will operate civil surfacing equipment, support chip sealing and asphalt paving, assist with site setup and traffic management, and maintain equipment to a high standard while ensuring safety and quality compliance. A strong team culture and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating civil construction or surfacing plant and equipment.
• Class 2 Licence as a minimum, WTR endorsements preferred.
• Class 4 Licence is advantageous.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate rollers, loaders, tractors and other surfacing and sealing plant.
• Support chip sealing, asphalt paving and road maintenance operations.
• Assist with site set-up, traffic management and daily activities.
• Load, unload and transport materials on site.
• Conduct pre-start checks and maintain plant to a high standard.
• Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with specs.
• Collaborate with Forepersons and Project Teams to deliver programmes.
• Follow health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Assist with general labouring duties as required.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and safe working environment.
