Job summary

Community Connections in Hawke's Bay (Hastings-based) is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help disabled people build confidence, independence and participate in their communities. This role offers an hourly rate of $24.85–$29.68, with a part-time 53 hours per week schedule.

You will use a do-with, not-for approach to support daily living, transport, personal care and community involvement across a roster that includes weekends and sleepovers as needed.

Qualifications

• Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3 or above) or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of disability, mental health, and Positive Behaviour Support.
• Commitment to a person-directed do-with, not-for approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living, personal care, and community participation.
• Support independence and community participation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support individual plans.
• Work across a 24/7 roster including weekends.

About The Role

As a Support Worker, you'll work alongside disabled people to build confidence, strengthen independence, and achieve the goals that matter most to them.

Using a "do with, not for" approach, you'll encourage choice, participation, and self-determination while supporting people with everyday living, community participation, personal wellbeing, and meaningful relationships.

Support May Include

• Assisting with daily living, household tasks, meal preparation, and personal care
• Encouraging independence and community participation
• Supporting emotional wellbeing using Positive Behaviour Support approaches
• Building life skills and confidence
• Working collaboratively with whānau, colleagues, and other professionals
• Maintaining accurate documentation and supporting individual plans

Our Hawke's Bay residential services operate across a 24/7 roster, including weekends, sleepovers, wakeovers, and public holidays.

Essential
