Job summary

IDEA Services is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist adults with intellectual disabilities in their own homes in Cambridge, NZ. The role involves night-time support, risk management, and helping clients achieve daily living goals while staying safe and valued within their communities.

The position requires availability for weekends and sleepovers, a calm demeanor, and strong communication. Training towards Level 2-4 in Health and Wellbeing is offered, with potential for career growth

Qualifications

• Previous relevant experience is preferred, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with varied life experience and the right attitude.
• Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover shifts.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Full NZ driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Support people with intellectual disabilities to live in their own homes.
• Provide night-time care and manage risks.
• Support independence in daily living activities.
• Assist with transportation, meals, and hygiene as needed.
• Foster meaningful connections with whānau and community.
