Job summary

IDEA Services is hiring a Support Worker to assist people with intellectual disabilities in their own homes. The role includes night shifts, sleepovers, and weekend work, with a focus on safety, risk management, and person-centred care to help clients achieve goals.

Experience in disability or aged care is helpful, but the right attitude and life experience are valued. Strong communication, confidence with challenging behaviours, and a NZ driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.
• Calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts including days, evenings, sleepovers, weekends.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Full NZ driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with complex needs, managing risk and ensuring safety.
• Provide individual care throughout the night.
• Build positive relationships with people supported in their homes.
