Job summary

IDEA Services in Tauranga is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide care for adults with intellectual disabilities in their own homes. You will contribute to safety, independence, and community involvement, with a changing fortnightly roster and a mix of day, evening, weekend, and sleepover shifts.

Previous caregiving experience is preferred. A calm, confident approach to challenging behaviours, strong communication, and computer/tablet use are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving or personal care for adults is preferred.
• Calm nature with confidence to handle challenging behaviours.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends and sleepovers.
• Ability to use computers/tablets daily and document care.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Full NZ driver’s license and right to work in NZ.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with intellectual disabilities in their own homes.
• Manage risk and ensure safety during care delivery.
• Provide individual care across night shifts and assist daily living tasks.
• Help clients with routines, medication, meals, and mobility.
• Support independence, goals, and social connections within the community.
