Job summary

IDEA Services is seeking a Support Worker to assist adults with intellectual disabilities, providing night-time care, risk management, and personal support in clients’ homes or facilities. Previous disability or aged care experience is preferred; a positive attitude and flexible shifts are essential.

Applicants must have a full New Zealand work rights and a valid driver’s license, with training support offered to complete Level 2–4 Health and Wellbeing qualifications.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

IDEA Services supports people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives at home and as part of their community.

As a Support Worker you will be supporting clients with complex needs, managing risk, ensuring safety, and providing individual care throughout the night. We would prefer someone who has previous experience working within the disability sector or aged care.

Previous relevant experience is preferred, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with varied life experience and the right attitude.

• Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.
• A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including alternate weekends and sleepover shifts.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Full NZ driver's license.
• Must have full rights to work and live in New Zealand.
