Job summary

Healthcarenz Limited is seeking a part-time Support Worker in Gisborne to assist Rangitahi and Tamariki and their family, fostering self-determination and independent living. Duties include hands-on support and collaboration with families to improve daily living.

Responsibilities

• Help rangitahi work toward goals and desired outcomes.
• Tailor supports to the family’s needs with a holistic approach.

We are looking for a part time Support Worker in Gisborne, to provide support for Rangitahi and Tamariki and the family, fostering their self-determination and empowering them to lead a valued life on their own terms.

The hours for this role will start at 2 hours per week with the opportunity to increase these hours over time.

What does a Support Worker do? | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko

As a support worker, your primary role is to facilitate the family's journey toward a valued life of their choosing. You will actively engage with them in a hands-on capacity and collaborate closely with them.

Your tasks will encompass a range of activities including grocery shopping, meal planning, preparation and cooking, laundry, light cleaning, and household support. As a support worker, your goal is to provide assistance, so they are able to maintain their active participation in daily living, both at home and in the community. Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Invest in creating a supportive environment for the family, focusing on their aspirations and independence rather than waiting for a crisis to arise.
• Support tamariki or rangitahi to go to school or access education.
• Observe and respond to health concerns or support the overall health and wellbeing of the young person
• Support rangitahi/young people to work towards and attain their goals and improve outcomes.
• Tailor supports to the family's unique needs and goals, adopting a holistic approach that encompasses all aspects of their life.
• Provide simple, flexible supports that the family can readily use to enhance their life.

• Previous experience working with young people/rangitahi.
• Full driver's license and owning your own vehicle is essential.

• Somebody who has the initiative to push people for their goals, is energetic, outgoing, and can think outside the box. You need to be respectful of others thinking, and their way of living life that may be different to your own.
