Job summary

IDEA Services is hiring a Support Worker in New Zealand to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities at home and in the community. You will support daily living skills, health routines and social engagement, working mornings, afternoons, sleepovers, and one weekend every fortnight.

The role offers meaningful work with training and career development, plus benefits through IDEA Services’ support network. Applicants must have legal right to work in New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Availability to work a range of shifts, including sleepovers and one weekend per fortnight.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Full NZ driver's license is required

Responsibilities

• Fostering independence: Assist individuals in developing daily living skills such as using public transport and preparing meals.
• Managing daily routines: Support with personal care tasks like showering, dressing and taking medication.
• Pursuing goals and interests: Encourage and help individuals to follow their passions and hobbies.
• Promoting health and well-being: Guide individuals in making healthy lifestyle choices and maintaining their overall well-being.
• Building strong connections: Strengthen their relationships with whānau and community.
