Job summary

IDEA Services, an IHC New Zealand group, seeks a Support Worker in Hawke's Bay. You will help adults with intellectual disabilities live meaningful lives at home and in the community, promoting independence and safety.

You’ll work rosters with days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends, using transport to community activities. Entry salaries start with NZ certificates and progress on learning, with benefits after 2 years.

Qualifications

• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing at Level 3 or 4 with recognised equivalent.
• Experience in health sector preferred or relevant work history.
• Ability to learn and progress through qualification levels.

Responsibilities

• Support people to grow independence and daily living skills.
• Assist with daily activities such as shopping, cleaning, and medicine administration.
• Encourage hobbies and community involvement and transport via IDEA vehicles.
• Respond to emotional overwhelm and support decision making.
• Maintain health, safety and wellbeing while fostering whānau connections.
