Job summary

New Zealand Defence Force – Wanganui, North Island

The Supply Chain Business Analyst will work within a high functioning team to ensure a level of consistency and stability is achieved within this crucial and highly visible supply chain, which supports a key NZDF output. You'll provide financial analysis, forecasting and business intelligence to support supply chain performance, fleet readiness and effective use of public funding.

Key responsibilities:
  • Analyse budgets, forecasts and supply chain performance data
  • Maintain and improve financial models and reporting tools
  • Monitor budget variances and identify improvement opportunities
  • Prepare prompt and accurate responses to queries on data provided
  • Develop and deliver training resources and support knowledge sharing

The salary for this role starts from $90,158 with a midpoint of $99,501, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.

As the successful candidate, you will excel at analysing and synthesising data from multiple sources to identify trends, solve problems and support informed decision-making. You'll be comfortable balancing urgent business needs with strategic improvement opportunities and will bring exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.

Our ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities:
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • A high level of computer literacy with a focus on MS Office and Excel
  • Three to five years of practical experience in a finance or accounting role
  • Knowledge of budgeting, costing and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of database, spreadsheets and financial modelling
  • Knowledge of NZDF Enterprise systems (SAP) is advantageous but not essential

  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
  • You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
