Job summary

Napier City Council invites friendly, motivated people to join a six‑month fixed‑term contract over our busy summer season at the National Aquarium of New Zealand in Napier. This is a hands‑on, varied role rotating across admissions, retail, café and events, welcoming visitors, selling tickets and tours, and helping deliver functions and birthday parties.

You’ll work 33 hours a week across four days, based on Napier’s Marine Parade, with a supportive team and good weekend rosters.

Qualifications

• Confident communicator with a passion for delivering top-notch customer service across front-of-house, food service, and retail.
• 1–2 years of experience in a customer service role.
• Solid computer skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Engage with visitors at front‑of‑house, sharing local knowledge, answering queries, and promoting aquarium experiences and memberships.
• Support our café and retail spaces by serving customers, maintaining high hygiene standards, and seeking opportunities for additional sales.
• Help bring events to life, from responding to party bookings to assisting with set‑up, service, and pack‑down for functions and celebrations.
