Napier City Council is seeking an Information & Travel Consultant to join the isite Visitor Centre and Par2 MiniGolf team in Napier. You will guide visitors, make bookings and drive sales while sharing local knowledge to create memorable experiences.
You will engage customers in person, by phone and online, balancing different priorities and delivering friendly, helpful service across cruise and peak periods.
There’s something pretty special about helping someone make the most of their time in our region. Whether it’s recommending a local experience, helping plan the next leg of a New Zealand adventure, securing a booking, selling some retail or simply pointing someone in the right direction, you’ll help create a warm and memorable welcome to Napier.
We’re looking for an Information & Travel Consultant to join our team, working across the Napier isite Visitor Centre and Par2 MiniGolf. This is a hands‑on customer‑facing role combining visitor information, travel bookings, sales and local tourism knowledge – perfect for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and sharing what our city and region have to offer.
You’ll be part of a busy environment welcoming locals and visitors from across New Zealand and around the world, including during our bustling cruise season. You’ll need to be comfortable thinking on your feet, balancing different priorities and turning great service into great visitor experiences.
As an Information & Travel Consultant, you’ll be one of the first points of contact for people exploring Napier and Hawke’s Bay.
You’ll listen to what visitors are looking for, provide accurate and impartial advice and help turn their ideas into plans through accommodation, attraction, transport and tour bookings. Alongside providing great service, you’ll confidently identify opportunities to generate sales and additional revenue while ensuring recommendations remain focused on what’s right for the customer.
You’ll also:
You’re someone who enjoys talking to people, quickly understands what they need, converts the discussion into sales and takes pride in providing genuinely helpful service. You’ll be confident recommending experiences and making sales without losing the personal, welcoming approach that great visitor service is built on.
Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to help people experience the best our region has to offer.
This is a permanent, full time opportunity working 40 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday. You will be based at isite Visitor Information Centre.
The annual salary package for this role is $62,055 - $69,355 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
