The University of Waikato is seeking a Student Assistant for Library Collections in New Zealand. Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga –About the role
Supporting our Collections, Strategy and Access Team, we are looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals to assist our collection management activities.
You’ll play a key part in reviewing and organising library materials to ensure the collection stays current and easy to access. Following Library Services guidelines, you’ll help identify items that need attention and assist with shelving and maintaining an orderly, welcoming environment.
These roles are fixed term positions from late October to Friday 18 December 2026 and will be supporting collections work in Te Manawa.
Salary will be appointed at $52,687 (per annum, pro-rata) based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.
It is essential that candidates provide a schedule of available work hours as part of their application. Candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week. Working hours can be flexible but will fall between 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday.

You are reliable, punctual, and be able to maintain your commitment to the role throughout the fixed term period.
Strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and good organisational skills are important. You’ll also need to be physically capable of safely lifting and moving materials. Reliability and the confidence to work independently will help you thrive in this role.
Current study at the University of Waikato would be highly desirable, as it may help you quickly become familiar with the library, its spaces and resources.
