Job summary

NZTA is seeking a regulatory planning, performance improvement professional to help ensure the regulatory system operates safely and efficiently across Aotearoa. The role focuses on planning, reporting and performance insights to support better decision-making.

You will work with multiple teams, deliver evidence-based advice, and contribute to governance and reporting processes while promoting Te Ao Māori principles in public sector outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulatory or complex operational environments.
• Ability to support planning, prioritisation or coordination across multiple teams.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends.
• Experience contributing to performance monitoring, reporting or governance.
• Ability to provide clear, evidence-based advice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning and delivery to keep regulatory system effective.
• Connect priorities, risks, trade-offs and performance to aid decisions.
• Use performance insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Provide clear, practical, evidence-based advice to leaders and teams.
• Collaborate across teams to support joined-up delivery.
• Monitor performance against plans and flag early-action needs.
• Improve planning tools, frameworks and processes for consistency.
• Support governance, committee, forum, Ministerial, OIA and reporting requirements.
