Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is seeking a Principal Advisor Regulatory System Design to join Te Rōpū Waeture – Regulatory in a high-performing team. You will lead system-level interventions to improve safety and performance across New Zealand’s land transport system, while influencing regulatory practice and strategy across the organisation.

You will use data and insights to understand system performance and complex risks, coach others, and provide strategic leadership to shape regulatory

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in regulatory system design.
• Experience leading system-level interventions.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks.
• Proven project management and cross-stakeholder coordination.
• Ability to translate data into policy advice.

Responsibilities

• Use data, evidence, insights and analysis to understand regulatory framework and system performance, and complex emerging regulatory risks and issues
• Lead and design complex system-level regulatory interventions that improve effectiveness, coherence and safety outcomes of the land transport system
• Provide thought leadership and advice on development, design and implementation of organisational-wide responses to complex and systemic issues and risks
• Influence regulatory practice and decision-making across the organisation and wider regulatory system
• Foster a culture of collaboration, good practice system design and continuous improvement.
