Job summary

Wairoa District Council is seeking a Group Manager – Assets and Infrastructure to lead the Council's infrastructure and asset management functions from Wairoa, New Zealand. This role reports to the Chief Executive and drives the long-term strategy for essential services and capital programmes.

You will build high-performing teams, engage with tangata whenua and stakeholders, and translate complex technical details into practical policy and advice for decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience managing complex infrastructure, engineering, utility, transport or asset management functions.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; postgraduate leadership/management qualification; CPEng accreditation or equivalent registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across Council's infrastructure and asset management functions to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable services.
• Oversee major operational and capital programmes and provide trusted advice to support decisions.
• Lead a high-performing team focused on service excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with tangata whenua, community stakeholders, government agencies and industry partners.
