Job summary

Randstad New Zealand seeks an experienced Accountant to join our Wellington-based finance team. You will provide high-level financial advice, monitor and report on financial results, and ensure strong financial management and internal controls across operations.

You will work closely with leadership to support decision-making, budget processes, and long-term financial planning, including month-end and year-end processes, and tax obligations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of practical experience in a management accounting or finance role within a large organization or professional services environment.
• Tertiary degree in Accounting (or equivalent practical experience). A CA-level qualification (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
• Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP or Oracle) or cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero).

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing financial guidance to internal stakeholders, conduct research and analysis to support strategic decisions, assist with vendor negotiations, and support annual budget processes and monthly forecasting.
• Monitor, analyse, and forecast financial results; manage fixed asset registers; prepare month-end and year-end financial processes; and oversee tax obligations (such as PAYE).
• Accurately calculate complex financial entitlements (e.g., Weekly Compensation) and consolidate annual financial statements for managed trust funds.
• Maintain accounting transactions across ERP and internal systems, resolve financial anomalies, manage audit queries, and support external audit engagements.
