Job summary

Randstad is seeking an experienced Accountant for our Wellington finance team. You will provide high-level financial advice, monitor and report on financial results and ensure strong financial management across operations.

You will partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning. The role requires 3+ years in management accounting, a Bachelor’s in Accounting, and familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP/Oracle or Xero.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of practical experience in a management accounting or finance role.
• Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent practical experience; CA-level qualification desirable.
• Experience with major ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) or cloud accounting (Xero).

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing financial advice and support budgeting, forecasting and decision-making.
• Monitor, analyse, and report on financial results; manage assets; support month-end and year-end processes.

Job description

I am seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Wellington-based finance team. In this role, you will provide high-level financial advice, monitor and report on financial results, and ensure strong financial management and internal controls across operations. You will work closely with leadership to support decision-making, budget processes, and long-term financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Advice & Decision Support: Provide ongoing guidance to internal stakeholders, conduct research and analysis to support strategic decisions, assist with vendor negotiations, and support annual budget processes and monthly forecasting.
• Financial Accountability & Reporting: Monitor, analyse, and forecast financial results; manage fixed asset registers; prepare month-end and year-end financial processes; and oversee tax obligations (such as PAYE).
• Entitlement & Trust Calculations: Accurately calculate complex financial entitlements (e.g., Weekly Compensation) and consolidate annual financial statements for managed trust funds.
• Reconciliations & Audit Engagement: Maintain accounting transactions across ERP and internal systems, resolve financial anomalies, manage audit queries, and support external audit engagements.

Key Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years of practical experience in a management accounting or finance role within a large organization or professional services environment.
• Education & Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Accounting (or equivalent practical experience). A CA-level qualification (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
• Systems Expertise.: Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP or Oracle) or cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero)
