Job summary

Ballance Agri-Nutrients in Invercargill is seeking a Stores Officer at our Awarua site. You’ll be the go-to for engineering and maintenance spares, keeping inventory accurate, the supply chain flowing, and the site’s operational teams well-supported in a hands-on role.

You’ll work with maintenance and operations staff in a small, collaborative team, taking pride in doing things properly. The role focuses on stock control, timely purchasing, and data governance to ensure materials are available

Qualifications

• A current Class 1 Driver’s Licence.
• Good general knowledge of materials management systems and warehousing/inventory experience.
• Strong attention to detail with numerical and communication skills.
• Practical, customer-focused approach to make others’ jobs easier.
• Computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage inwards and outwards of engineering and maintenance spares, keeping stock accurate and available.
• Process purchasing and supply chain activity promptly to minimise downtime.
• Keep purchasing master data up to date for procurement efficiency.
• Identify and flag process/systems improvements and speak up where things can be better.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and follow safe work practices.
• Collaborate with maintenance, dispatch and quality teams to ensure needs are met.

You’re someone who takes pride in keeping things ticking. You’re organised, reliable, and you don’t wait to be told when something needs sorting — you just get it done.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

• A current Class 1 Driver’s Licence.
• Good general knowledge of materials management systems and previous warehousing or inventory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and solid numerical and communication skills.
• A practical, customer-focused approach — you understand that your job is to make other people’s jobs easier.
• Computer literacy and a willingness to learn new systems and skills.

It’s a bonus if you also bring:

• A current first aid certificate, or forklift endorsement.
• Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing, chemical plant, or process environment.
• A background in inventory, purchasing, or materials management.
