Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora in Hawke's Bay (Fallen Soldiers Hospital) seeks a casual Sterile Sciences Technician to join the Perioperative Unit. You will clean, inspect and sterilise reusable medical devices and instruments, ensuring safety and readiness for patient care.

You will work in a collaborative team, using specialised equipment and instrument-tracking systems, with emphasis on quality, safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• New Zealand Sterilising Technology Certificate Level 4 or equivalent.
• Experience in sterile sciences, CSSD, or healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A proactive approach to learning, continuous improvement and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, sterilise and prepare reusable medical devices and surgical instruments to high safety standards.
• Support surgical and clinical teams across the Perioperative Unit.
• Maintain instrument tracking systems and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement within the sterile services environment.
