Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Sterile Sciences Technician in Hawke's Bay to support the Perioperative Unit with sterilisation and reprocessing of reusable medical devices. The role involves hands-on work ensuring instruments are cleaned, sterilised, and prepared to the highest safety standards.

You will contribute to safe patient care by maintaining trackable equipment readiness and collaborating with surgical teams.

Qualifications

• A NZ Sterilising Technology Certificate Level 4 (or approved equivalent).
• Experience in sterile sciences, CSSD or healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, sterilise and prepare reusable medical devices and surgical instruments to high quality and safety standards.
• Work within the Perioperative Unit supporting surgical and clinical teams.
• Maintain compliance with industry standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Utilise instrument tracking systems to ensure equipment is available and ready for patient care.

About the Role
