Job summary

Waikato Regional Council – Hamilton, North Island is seeking a proactive Spatial Analyst to handle requests for spatial information and deliver outputs in diverse formats. You will perform dedicated spatial analysis, maintain datasets and metadata, and support team colleagues on data management tasks.

The role requires a GIS-related qualification or equivalent experience, strong ArcGIS knowledge, and excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in GIS, geography, computer science or information technology or 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of ArcGIS products and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake requests for spatial information and provide outputs in formats such as maps and data provisions.

Waikato Regional Council – Hamilton, North Island

Undertake requests for spatial information and provide outputs in a variety of formats (such as map production and data provision) to various internal and external customers.

Carry out spatial analysis to meet the information needs of various internal and external customers.

Maintain and create relevant data sets and metadata to Waikato Regional Council standards.

Provide backup support for Spatial Information and Data Management Team members as required.

Provide Spatial Information support for corporate and/or regional collaboration projects requiring spatial analysis, as required.

A self-motivated, customer-focused Spatial Analyst, who will respond to requests for spatial information and provide data outputs in a variety of formats for both internal and external customers.

Has an open communication style, with the ability to quickly build effective relationships with teams and customers across the organisation and motu.

Enjoys a varied role including the creation and maintenance of datasets, analysis, and mapping to produce a high standard of outputs with exceptional attention to detail.

Has strategic and tactical thinking skills, with a curiosity to find and grow your own solution centred skills.

Able to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the achievement of shared objectives.

Tertiary qualification in GIS, geography, computer science or information technology or 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

Demonstratable knowledge, experience and understanding of ArcGIS products.

Proven knowledge and experience of Office 365.

Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.

Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.

Political awareness and skill in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
