SouthRoads Ltd is hiring a Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) to lead and manage stabilising crews across the Southland region. You will set up and operate safe TMP sites, protecting crew and road users, weathering early starts and a Mon-Fri roster with possible weekend work.

The role suits both experienced STMS and those aiming to qualify, with training and progression available. A strong safety mindset and leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• NZ driver's licence (essential).
• Class 2 licence is an advantage.
• STMS qualification or willingness to train toward one.
• Solid understanding of temporary traffic management requirements.
• Proactive health and safety approach.
• Ability to stay calm, think quickly and solve problems under pressure.
• Strong communication and leadership to keep site cohesive.
• Team player with willingness to travel around Southland.

Responsabilités

• Embedded in stabilising crew as the STMS, setting up and running safe, compliant Temporary Traffic Management sites in Southland.
• Protect crew, road users and others on site by enforcing safety and best practices.

About the Role

You’ll be embedded in our stabilising crew as the STMS, responsible for setting up and running safe, compliant Temporary Traffic Management sites across the Southland region — protecting your crew, road users, and everyone else on site.

What we're looking for

We want someone who's already working in this space, or wants to get into it — either way, we'd love to hear from you. If you're missing a box or two and you're keen to learn, talk to us anyway:

• Full New Zealand driver's licence (essential)
• A Class 2 licence is a strong advantage — if you've got it, tell us
• Already have your STMS qualification, or keen to work towards one — we'll invest in getting you there.
• Solid understanding of temporary traffic management requirements and best practice (if you're already qualified)
• A proactive, no-excuses approach to health and safety
• The ability to stay calm, think on your feet, and solve problems under pressure
• Strong communication and leadership — you'll need to hold a site together
• A genuine team player with an approachable attitude and willingness to travel around Southland
