Job summary

Geotechnics Ltd in New Zealand seeks a motivated CMT Technician to perform laboratory and field testing on soil, concrete and aggregate for a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role involves early starts, challenging conditions, and occasional overtime to deliver reliable results for construction projects.

You will work under the Geotechnics team, showcasing practical skills, technical accuracy and commitment to quality while supporting projects across communities in New Zealand.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in the laboratory and field testing of soil, concrete and aggregate.
• Experience working in an accredited civil engineering laboratory in New Zealand.
• Physically capable of handling samples up to 25 kg.
• Proficient in Excel and Word.
• Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
• Clear communicator and effective team player.
• Hardworking, self-motivated and positive.
• Customer-focused.

Responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory and field testing following NZ and international methods and the company’s system.
• Work efficiently to achieve timely turnaround and meet customer requirements.
• Take responsibility for allocated work and ensure testing tasks are completed on time and within budgeted hours.
• Communicate with the Team Leader if deadlines cannot be met.
• Follow business processes to ensure high-quality results and collaborate with teammates.
• Prioritise safety and wellbeing on site and at the lab.
• Participate in learning and development opportunities.
• Ensure proper training or supervision before field or testing work.
