Job summary

One New Zealand is seeking a Software Developer to build and evolve the software powering our Cloud Applications platforms. You’ll turn ideas into high-quality solutions, delivering new functionality and enhancements from design through to deployment and production.

You’ll own software changes across the lifecycle and ensure security, reliability, and maintainability. You’ll work with AI, automation and modern development practices to continually improve delivery and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding and experience in software development and modern development practices.
• Experience developing software in cloud environments, including APIs and system integrations.
• Understanding of automated testing, source control and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of secure software development and software quality principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain software across Cloud Applications platforms.
• Deliver new functionality, enhancements and defect resolutions to agreed standards.
• Own software changes from requirements and design through to deployment and production.
• Ensure code is secure, maintainable and reliable through testing, peer review, logging and documentation.
• Investigate and resolve application defects and production issues, including root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Developers, DevOps Engineers, QA, technical leads and stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices, automation and CI/CD.
• Use AI, automation and modern development tools to improve productivity, software quality, testing and delivery outcomes.

As the Software Developer, your role is to build and evolve the software powering One NZ’s Cloud Applications platforms. You’ll turn ideas and requirements into high-quality solutions, delivering new functionality and enhancements from design through to deployment and successful operation in production. With ownership across the development lifecycle, you’ll create software that is secure, reliable, scalable and built to perform—while using modern development practices, AI and automation to continually improve how we deliver.

Ko Tō Mahi – What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, test and maintain software across Cloud Applications platforms.
• Deliver new functionality, enhancements and defect resolutions to agreed standards.
• Own software changes from requirements and design through to deployment and production.

• Strong understanding and experience in software development and modern development practices.
• Experience in software languages including Go, Python and SQL
• Experience developing software in cloud environments, including APIs and system integrations.
• Understanding of automated testing, source control and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of secure software development and software quality principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong ownership, communication and collaboration skills across technical and business stakeholders.
• Practical understanding of AI-assisted tools for areas such as code generation, analysis, monitoring or reporting.
• Ability to use AI to improve productivity, data validation and operational efficiency.
• An ability to identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and enhance workflows.
