DSK Engineering Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC/Manual Machinist to join our engineering team in Hastings, Central Hawkes Bay. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our manufacturing operations. As a Skilled CNC/Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining both CNC and manual machinery to produce precision components that meet our clients' exacting specifications. This position is fundamental to delivering high-quality engineering solutions and maintaining our reputation for excellence in the industrial engineering sector.
Operate CNC machine tools and manual machines to produce precision components according to technical drawings and specifications
Set up and programme CNC machinery, including tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices
Monitor machine performance during production runs and make real-time adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency
Perform manual machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding to specified tolerances
Maintain accurate production records and documentation for traceability and quality assurance
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure optimal performance
Follow all health and safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff when necessary
Collaborate with the engineering team to optimise production processes and identify efficiency improvements
Proven experience operating both CNC and manual machine tools in a production environment
Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanical drawings, and tolerance specifications
Competency in using precision measuring instruments and quality control equipment
Experience with CNC programming and job setup, including tooling and fixture selection
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing work that meets strict quality standards
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
A valid New Zealand driver's licence or equivalent
Preferred experience with CNC turning centres, and exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
