Job summary

Alignz Recruitment in Hamilton is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join an established engineering and manufacturing business. You will take ownership of jobs from drawing and job order through to setup, programming, machining and final inspection.

This role offers variety across projects, modern CNC equipment, and a supportive team of engineers and machinists, with opportunities to work with tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC Machinist, especially CNC milling.
• Strong general engineering and machining knowledge.
• Ability to program, set up and operate own machine.
• Confidence working independently with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding of tolerances and precision machining.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines.
• Program machines independently for various jobs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and job orders.
• Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining methods.
• Carry out setups and adjustments as required.
• Produce precision components to specs and tolerances.

We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Hamilton. This is an opportunity for a skilled machinist who enjoys variety and takes ownership of your work. We're looking for an all-rounder with strong general engineering knowledge who can confidently take a job from drawing and job order through to setup, programming, machining and final inspection.

Key responsibilities

• Setting up and operating CNC milling machines
• Programming machines independently for a variety of jobs
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and job orders
• Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and machining methods
• Carrying out your own setups and making adjustments as required
• Producing precision components to required specifications and tolerances
• Using measuring and inspection equipment to check finished work
• Troubleshooting machining and production issues

About you

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, particularly CNC milling
• Strong general engineering and machining knowledge
• The ability to program, set up and operate your own machine
• Confidence working independently with minimal supervision
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and job orders
• Good understanding of tolerances, measurements and precision machining
• Experience using inspection and measuring equipment
• Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
• A willingness to get involved across the workshop rather than being limited to repetitive production work
