Job summary

New Zealand Defence Force invites applications for a Watch Officer (Situational Awareness Watch Supervisor) to lead the 24/7 Situational Awareness Watch at HQ Joint Forces New Zealand. The role ensures NZDF COP is current and integrated by coordinating, analysing, and fusing information from multiple sources to support NZDF Commanders' planning and operations.

You will work in a classified, high-security environment with GCCS-J tools, lead a watch team, and manage critical information flows.

Qualifications

Extensive experience operating in a military environment with emphasis on information security.
Ability to interpret a range of information, plans, directives, and regulations.
Working knowledge of GCCS-J family tools and data feeds.
Confident, clear communicator in a high-security environment.

Responsibilities

Supervising watch personnel and managing 24/7 monitoring of NZDF operations.
Ensuring accuracy, validity, and security of information in the COP.
Coordinating information flow between HQ, watch staff, and stakeholders.
Preparing and supporting operational briefs, including the HQJFNZ Daily Brief.
Leading the watch team, ensuring SOPs, security, and directives.
Providing indications and warnings for significant events to aid decision-making.
