Job summary

Beca in Timaru is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support a strong pipeline of regional industrial and manufacturing projects, delivering sustaining capital and improvements. You will manage projects end to end with autonomy, work with client teams, and apply your mechanical, electrical or process engineering expertise across sectors such as food, beverage, manufacturing and heavy industry.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience ideally within industrial brownfield or operational environments.
• Experience managing projects, including scope, programme, cost and risk.
• The ability to work independently in a regional delivery environment.
• A client-focused, practical mindset, with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Delivering sustaining capital projects such as equipment replacements, safety upgrades, reliability improvements and compliance works.
• Supporting major capital projects as they arise.
• Managing projects end to end, from scope and planning through to delivery - working alongside client teams with support from Beca’s wider national capability.
• Building strong, trusted client relationships through consistent, high-quality delivery.
• Working confidently and independently in a site based delivery environment, partnering with operational teams and key stakeholders, drawing on national project support where needed.
