Job summary

Regal Haulage in New Zealand is seeking a Shipping Operations Supervisor to join our shipping team and manage vessel discharge activities on a day-to-day basis.

You will coordinate trucks and drivers in a fast-moving environment, monitor tonnage and schedules, liaise with customers and subcontractors, and mentor junior staff to improve efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport, logistics, bulk haulage or shipping operations.
• Experience coordinating trucks, drivers and time-critical transport movements.
• Knowledge of New Zealand transport networks.
• Understanding of driver hours, vehicle compliance and transport requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Clear communication with drivers, customers, subcontractors and teams.
• Ability to stay calm and make good decisions when conditions change.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to get involved.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the planning and execution of vessel discharges
• Coordinating truck allocation, routes and delivery movements
• Monitoring hourly tonnage, truck turnaround times and fleet utilization
• Using systems such as EROAD and scheduling tools to monitor fleet activity
• Identifying delays and operational issues and helping resolve them quickly
• Supporting drivers with breakdowns, route changes and other operational issues
• Monitoring payloads, loading weights and transport compliance
• Coordinating shift changes and maintaining continuity throughout vessel operations
• Providing clear operational updates to customers and internal teams
• Working closely with wharf staff, subcontractors and other operational partners
• Completing post-vessel reconciliation and ensuring discharge documentation is captured
• Supporting and mentoring members of the shipping and despatch teams
• Identifying opportunities to improve truck utilization, turnaround times and overall discharge performance

Regal Haulage is looking for a Shipping Operations Supervisor to join our shipping team and play a key role in the execution of vessel discharge operations.

We are looking for someone who understands transport operations, can coordinate trucks and drivers in a fast-moving environment, and is comfortable making practical decisions when the plan changes.

Working closely with our Shipping Manager, despatch team, drivers, customers and subcontractors, you will help ensure our vessel discharges are completed safely, efficiently and as close to plan as possible.
