Job summary

The BurgerFuel franchise in Upper Hutt is looking for a dedicated Shift Manager to join our busy team.

You will oversee food quality, customer service, hygiene and store operations on your shift, enforce policies, train staff and manage opening/closing procedures, while ensuring compliance with safety manuals.

Employment is permanent with a minimum of 30 hours per week; shifts run 9am–11pm across Mon–Sun, with hourly pay of 26–28 NZD depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in a management role in retail or hospitality.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Time management and organisation skills.
• Able to withstand long periods of standing and lifting objects.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Food & Packaging Manual, Food Safety Plan, Kitchen Log Book and Prep List.
• Adhere to BurgerFuel policies and guidelines.
• Responsible for food quality, customer service and cleanliness of the shift.
• Open and/or close the store (Cash Up and Lock Up procedures).
• Assign tasks to employees on shift and follow up on completion.
• Motivate employees to attain high standards.
• Train employees on BurgerFuel procedures.
• Order supplies and address issues regarding these.
• Take and resolve customer complaints/feedback.
• Communicate memos and other information from Head Office.
• Assist with staff rosters and payroll as needed.
• Be aware of quality issues, especially relating to product safety and shelf life.
• Ensure store and staff hygiene is maintained to the highest standard.
• Attend weekly Shift Manager meetings.
• Must be on time and remain on site for entire shift.
• All roles may include other tasks as directed to ensure key responsibilities.
• All roles assist with food preparation, store setup/cleanup and detail cleaning duties.
