Job summary

Agricentre South Ltd is seeking a Service Technician in Gore, Southland for a full-time, permanent role. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain machinery, working in both workshop and field settings with customers. Training and career development are offered in a supportive team environment.

Ideal candidates have a diesel mechanic qualification, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team while delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a diesel mechanic or equivalent recognised by NZ industry.
• Ability to work in workshop and field with customers.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to H&S policies.
• Professional and friendly with customers and team.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain machinery to manufacturer standards.
• Update Service Manager on progress and issues.
• Follow Health & Safety policies.
• Test completed work to ensure proper operation.
• Support and mentor apprentices when needed.
• Keep up to date with tools and equipment.
• Attend required training.
• Work in workshop and with customers in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery to manufacturer standards
• Communicating with the Service Manager on job progress and any issues
• Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Testing completed work to ensure everything is running perfectly
• Supporting and mentoring apprentices when needed
• Keeping up to date with new tools, technology, and equipment
• Attending training as required
• Working both in the workshop and out in the field with customers

Skills / Experience Required

• Qualified mechanic – ideally diesel, but other relevant experience considered
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
• Ability to prioritise and manage your workload effectively
• Friendly, professional approach with customers and team members
• Confident problem-solver who gets the job done
• Team player who can also work independently
• Strong focus on Health & Safety
