Job summary

Power Farming in Gisborne is seeking a Service Technician / Auto-Electrician to service agricultural and construction equipment, both in the workshop and on customer sites. The role requires diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults with CANBUS diagnostics.

You will use diagnostic software and testing equipment, perform servicing and overhauls, and deliver quality workmanship while prioritising safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing heavyduty machinery.
  • Experience in agricultural, construction, forestry, or transport equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain machinery in workshop and on-site.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.

About the role:

As a Service Technician / Auto-Electrician, you will:

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain agricultural andconstruction machinery
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical andelectronic faults
  • Utilise manufacturer diagnostic software andspecialist testing equipment
  • Complete servicing, preventative maintenance andmachinery overhauls
  • Attend customer sites to diagnose and repairequipment breakdowns
  • Install and repair wiring, sensors, lighting andmachine control systems
  • Accurately complete job cards, service reports andsupporting documentation
  • Work safely and comply with all health and safetyrequirements
  • Deliver professional service that minimisesdowntime for customers
About you:
  • Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Engineering,Auto Electrical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, Automotive ElectricalTechnology or similar
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing heavymachinery, agricultural, construction, forestry or transport equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematicsand technical manuals
  • Experience using diagnostic software and electronictesting equipment
  • Understanding of electronic control systems andCANBUS diagnostics is highly regarded
  • Current driver's licence
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Reliable, safety-focused and committed todelivering quality workmanship
