Job summary

Power Farming in Whangarei (Northland) is seeking a Senior Service Technician to service and repair agricultural and construction machinery in workshop and on-site. You will apply advanced diagnostic skills, mentor apprentices, and contribute to customer outcomes while working with leading global brands.

The role offers permanent full-time employment, regular hours, and opportunities to grow technical expertise within a supportive team at our Northland branch.

Qualifications

  • Senior Service Technician with hands-on experience in heavy machinery or automotive service.
  • Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding capability across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and computerised service systems.
  • Proven workshop experience in mechanical repair, ideally in agricultural or construction machinery environments.
  • Full driver's licence and ability to work independently within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, maintain and overhaul agricultural and construction machinery to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose, repair and maintain machinery using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with parts, service and branch teams to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
  • Travel to customer sites as required to support on-site service.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to apprentices and service technicians.

About the role:

As a Senior Service Technician, you will be responsible forservicing, repairing, maintaining and overhauling agricultural and constructionmachinery to manufacturer specifications. Working both in the workshop and inthe field, you will:

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain machinery usingadvanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Detect and resolve mechanical and electrical faultsefficiently and accurately.
  • Use computer-based service systems to sourcetechnical information, download and interpret machine data.
  • Dismantle, repair and rebuild components tomanufacturer specifications.
  • Complete service documentation and administrationaccurately and on time.
  • Collaboratewith parts, service and branch teams to deliver outstanding customeroutcomes.
  • Travelas required to support customers on-site.
  • Maintainhigh standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Providecoaching, guidance and mentoring to apprentice and service technicians,sharing knowledge and best practice across the team.
About you:

You’ll take pride in your work, have advanced technicalcapability and enjoy solving complex mechanical challenges. To be successful inthis role, you’ll have:

  • A Heavy Machinery or Automotive Service Technicianqualification.
  • Proven experience working in a mechanical repairworkshop, ideally within agricultural or construction machineryenvironments.
  • Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding capabilityacross mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment andcomputerised service systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and logical diagnosticskills.
  • A full driver's licence.
  • The ability to work independently whilecontributing positively to a team environment.
  • A safety-first mindset and commitment toprofessional, ethical conduct.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting lessexperienced technicians would be advantageous.
