Job summary

Chhima Makan Limited is seeking a reliable, hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead our busy service station in Hamilton, supporting day-to-day operations and delivering a positive customer experience.

Working closely with the Store Manager, you will supervise staff, manage rostering, handle transactions, maintain stock and displays, and step in when the manager is away. A background in retail or supervision and a flexible roster are ideal.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant retail or supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership and ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to handle cash and complete basic reporting.
• Flexible roster availability including weekends and holidays.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily retail sales and staff to ensure smooth site operations.
• Assist with rostering staff and organising shifts.
• Serve customers, answer queries, and provide helpful information about fuel, products, and services.
• Sell goods and services and accurately process payments (cash, EFTPOS, card).
• Handle and resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.
• Monitor and maintain stock, order goods, receive deliveries, keep shelves stocked.
• Set up product displays and pricing, keep shop floor tidy and presentable.
• Keep records of stock, sales, and till reconciliations; complete end-of-shift reporting.
• Ensure security of premises, cash, and stock; follow health, safety procedures.
• Support training and development of new and existing team members.
• Step in to run the site in the manager's absence when required.
