Ministry of Justice (New Zealand) is seeking a Service Manager for Courts and Tribunals. The role focuses on leading a team, managing operations, and driving professional development while maintaining a positive culture.

The position is based at Hutt Valley District Court with a February 2027 start date and reports to a Manager Justice Service. You will work with a leadership team across two District Courts to strengthen public trust in the Law of Aotearoa New Zealand through effective service

Qualifications

• Operational management experience, ideally in the District Court and Tribunals environment.
• Experience in managing and developing staff capability.
• Proven leadership to motivate and guide staff toward targets and bigger-picture outcomes.
• Proven track record in supporting and implementing changes to business processes.
• Adaptable to a changing operations and customer-centric environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to establish relationships and motivate others.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across teams.
• Strong analytical, tactical and strategic abilities.
