Job summary

Lely is seeking a hands-on technician to service and optimize robotic milking systems across New Zealand farms. You will install, service, and repair equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot faults with a customer-focused approach.

The role requires independent work on rural sites, with on-call rotations and ongoing training. You will engage with farmers, manage parts and field logistics, and contribute to technology rollouts across the network.

Qualifications

• Experience with electrical/mechanical systems in a dairy setting preferred.
• EST registration or trade qualifications highly regarded.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills with modern technology.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service, and repair Lely robotic milking systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and optimise performance.
• Diagnose electrical/mechanical faults and resolve issues.
• Provide real-time practical solutions and customer support.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call roster when needed.
• Build strong relationships with farmers and deliver excellent service.
• Manage spare parts inventory and vehicle service records.
• Contribute to rollout of new technologies across NZ farms.

Job description

As a key member of our technical team, you'll be responsible for ensuring our customers' robotic systems operate at peak performance by:

• Installing, commissioning, servicing, and repairing Lely robotic milking systems and related technologies
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and performance optimization activities (full training provided)
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting low-voltage electrical and mechanical faults
• Responding to technical issues and delivering practical solutions in real-time
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call roster to support our customers when they need us most
• Building trusted relationships with farmers and providing exceptional customer service
• Managing spare parts inventory and maintaining your vehicle service
• Contributing to the successful rollout of new technologies across New Zealand farms

Qualifications

We're seeking someone who combines technical expertise with a passion for customer service and innovation.

You will ideally have:

• Experience within the dairy industry and a good understanding of New Zealand farming systems
• An electrical, mechanical, engineering, or technical trade background
• EST registration and/or trade qualifications (highly regarded)
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Confidence working with computers, software, and modern technology platforms
• The ability to work independently while also being a valuable team player
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility to travel and work additional hours when required
