Job summary

Lely is seeking a Service & Installation Technician to install, service and repair our robotic milking systems across New Zealand. You will work in rural environments, diagnose faults and deliver practical solutions.

The role involves on-site support, 24/7 on-call rotation, training provided, and opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge dairy automation while building strong farmer relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in the dairy industry and understanding NZ farming systems.
• Electrical, mechanical, engineering, or technical trade background.
• EST registration and/or trade qualifications encouraged.
• Milking Machine Tester/Technician qualifications preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Comfort with computers, software and modern tech platforms.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel and work extra hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and repair Lely robotic milking systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and optimisation (training provided).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot low-voltage electrical and mechanical faults.
• Respond to technical issues with real-time, practical solutions.
• Join a 24/7 on-call roster to support customers.
• Build trusted relationships with farmers and deliver excellent service.
• Manage spare parts inventory and service vehicle maintenance.
• Contribute to rollout of new technologies across NZ farms.

Responsibilities

• Installing, commissioning, servicing, and repairing Lely robotic milking systems and related technologies
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and performance optimisation activities (full training provided)
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting low-voltage electrical and mechanical faults
• Responding to technical issues and delivering practical solutions in real-time
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call roster to support our customers when they need us most
• Building trusted relationships with farmers and providing exceptional customer service
• Managing spare parts inventory and maintaining your vehicle service
• Contributing to the successful rollout of new technologies across New Zealand farms

You Will Ideally Have

• Experience within the dairy industry and a good understanding of New Zealand farming systems
• An electrical, mechanical, engineering, or technical trade background
• EST registration and/or trade qualifications (highly regarded)
• Milking Machine Tester/Technician qualifications (preferred)
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Confidence working with computers, software, and modern technology platforms
• The ability to work independently while also being a valuable team player
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility to travel and work additional hours when required
