Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer in Queenstown to design, implement, and optimize the core transmission network. You will work with fiber, microwave, and transport technologies to ensure high-capacity data flow across the region.

You will plan upgrades, monitor performance, and troubleshoot faults to maintain reliable services. Hybrid work arrangements offer flexibility while contributing to scalable telecom infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing and managing telecom transmission networks.
• Strong knowledge of DWDM, OTN, SDH/SONET, microwave, and IP networking principles.
• Experience with transmission planning tools and network simulation software.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical fault resolution approach.
• Familiarity with Nokia, Huawei, Ciena equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer transmission network solutions including fiber optic, microwave, and transport technologies.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and cutovers with minimal service impact.
• Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and implement optimizations for capacity and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex transmission network faults, ensuring rapid restoration of services.
• Develop and maintain detailed network designs, documentation, and configuration standards.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and vendors on integration and new technology deployment.
