Job summary

Ventia is seeking an experienced Senior Switching/Outage Coordinator to provide technical leadership across switching operations, outage planning, governance, and safety. Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will collaborate with Transpower, planners, outage coordinators, field operators, and maintenance switchers to ensure outages are planned and delivered safely, efficiently, and compliantly.

Qualifications

• HV substation experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of switching operations, outage planning, and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor others.
• Full NZ Driver Licence.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve operating sequences and switching documentation.
• Coordinate outage planning and OHMS activities.
• Provide switching governance and technical support.
• Mentor Maintenance Switchers, Field Operators, and trainee switchers.
• Represent Ventia at Transpower POSP meetings.
• Participate in audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with Transpower, connected parties, and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain active switching competency through operational field activities.
• Support fault response and permit management activities.
