Job summary

ElectroNet is seeking experienced primary design engineers and design managers for high-voltage substation and renewable energy projects in New Zealand. Positions are available in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington, with Christchurch preferred.

You will lead detailed HV designs, coordinate multifaceted workstreams, and drive technical delivery across wind, solar and battery storage initiatives. The role offers a collaborative environment with mentoring, flexible/hybrid working arrangements

Qualifications

• Minimum six years for Senior; 15+ for Principal-level roles.
• HV primary design experience with capability to deliver detailed designs.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams on transmission/sub-transmission projects.
• Consultancy background or equivalent delivery of complex utility projects.
• Strong communication, technical judgement and ownership of deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review concept and detailed primary designs for HV transmission/sub-transmission substations.
• Coordinate primary, secondary, protection, SCADA and comms workstreams.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, geotechnical and specialist teams.
• Prepare and review layouts, drawings, reports, specs and design deliverables.
• Manage interfaces, client expectations, programme, budgets and quality.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues.
• Support project scoping, proposals and client relationships.
