Job summary

Babbage Consultants in New Zealand is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to lead planning, design and delivery of stormwater projects across the country.

You will work within our Water Infrastructure team, collaborate with clients and authorities, and mentor junior engineers while delivering resilient, well-designed stormwater solutions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 6+ years of stormwater or water resources experience, NZ preferred.
• CPEng status or progress toward it.
• Strong stormwater planning, hydraulic design and project delivery experience.
• Hydrological and hydraulic modelling and flood-management experience.
• Knowledge of New Zealand regulatory and consenting requirements.
• Strong project management, communication and client engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design and delivery of stormwater infrastructure projects.
• Deliver stormwater networks, culverts, outfalls, treatment devices and related structures.
• Develop and review technical designs, reports, assessments and models.
• Undertake hydrological and hydraulic modelling and flood-risk assessments.
• Manage project scope, programme, budget, risk and quality.
• Work closely with clients, local authorities, developers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Contribute to proposals and the continued growth of our stormwater capability.

Senior Stormwater Engineer

Babbage is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Stormwater Engineer to strengthen our stormwater capability and help deliver a strong pipeline of infrastructure projects across New Zealand.

The Opportunity

As a senior member of our Water Infrastructure team, you’ll take ownership of stormwater projects from planning and design through to delivery. You’ll work across public and private sector projects, building trusted client relationships and supporting the development of engineers within our growing Infrastructure team.

This is more than pipes and drainage. Whether you’re upgrading ageing assets, designing for climate resilience, managing flood risk or advising on long-term stormwater strategies, your work will help create better outcomes for communities and the environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You’ll Bring
