Job summary

Kiwibank is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Technology Reliability, Operations and Risk team in Wellington/Auckland. The role focuses on lifting reliability, observability, and performance across our banking platform as we migrate to a modern cloud-enabled environment.

You will work with lead engineers, delivery teams and the Transformation programme to shorten detection and recovery times, while maintaining customer safety and service reliability. On-call may be required.

Qualifications

Senior level experience in incident response, performance and reliability engineering in complex production environments.
Strong observability and performance engineering skills including RUM, synthetics and tuning across languages and databases.
Experience with CI/CD and declarative deployments with automated quality and security.
Experience building run-time and build-time components to support platform security and reliability.
Security-first mindset and collaboration with security, risk and change functions.
Ability to influence engineering practices in Agile/DevOps and mentor others.

Uplift reliability and observability across the bank's applications and platforms.
Lead through influence, mentoring, and guiding teams in production readiness and issue recovery.
